A few weeks ago, my sister and I both couldn't sleep and ended up chatting online at 3 a.m. At 4 a.m., I convinced her to pick me up and take me to IHOP for pancakes. Talk about a great start to the day. :) After breakfast, we went to the store to look for randomness to buy for Katelyn because we were planning on going to visit her that day. In between picking out coloring books and novelty items, we found ourselves in the game aisle. And I remembered an idea that I had seen several times around the blogosphere. What if we brought Katelyn a memory game with her friends' faces on it?! And that's what we did. It was actually very simple and the end result was lots of fun.
Here's what you need:
wooden discs from the craft store
fun scrapbook paper
photos (I just printed mine on computer paper)
coordinating paper craft punch (optional, but TONS easier)
Essentially, just cut circles out of the scrapbook paper, cut out the pictures that you want to use and get to Mod Podging!
It's that easy.
While Katelyn liked the game, I liked her reaction even more. After coming back into the room and finding the game arranged for her on the table, she said,
Well, today is the day! Time to announce the winners of the donor giveaway. :) First of all, I really have to thank everyone who made monetary donations towards Krafts for Katelyn. I was blown away by your generosity! Several people added a donation on top of the donation that they were giving for auction items that they won. And I can't tell you how very much I appreciate it. I know that money is tight for just about everyone right now and I don't take your donation lightly. I know that there are a million other things that you could be doing with your money and the fact that you would donate it to this cause means so very much. And the fact that many of you have never even had the pleasure of meeting Katelyn and still decided to give, leaves me at a loss for words. All I can say is thank you. As a part of that "thank you" I entered everyone who made monetary donations into a giveaway. Names were separated into three categories: Sweet Donors ($5-$9), Super Sweet Donors ($10-$19) & Super Duper Sweet Donors ($20+). Each category was assigned a homemade gift ahead of time and winners were chosen via random.org. And now, the moment you've all been waiting for...the winners are...
Sweet Donor Jackie Adair won one of my washer necklaces!
Jackie, just go to my shop, pick out whatever necklace that you want, let me know and I'll mail it to you pronto!
Super Sweet Donor Amanda Meyer won a button bouquet!
I'm so happy for her, since she lost the bidding war for the pink one listed in the auction!
Super Duper Sweet Donor Pat Kujawa won this lil jewelry organizer!
Again, I cannot thank you all enough for your kindness.
Stay tuned for an even bigger announcement tomorrow...
Don't forget about entering for your chance to win a fun handmade gift by becoming a donor. Just make a $5, $10 or $20+ donation and you could win! Remember, all the funds raised are going towards the medical expenses of Katelyn, who has, might I add, already been blown away by the generosity of others in her time of need. Let's really make her jaw hit the floor.
Kevsgirl16 (I need your contact info!) with a winning bid of $12,
Kevsgirl16 (again!) with a winning bid of $21,
and Melissa with a winning bid of $15!
That would bring the auction's running total to $377...
EXCEPT that Amy has very generously offered to also honor the second place bidder on her wonderful wall words, which adds $30 more to the total.
But, it's not over yet!
You all still have a chance to win a fun handmade gift by making a $ donation. So, if you didn't get what you wanted, don't fret! Just click here to learn how you can be entered to win. Originally, I had planned on making the sweetest donor contest run through tomorrow, but I'm going to extend it through Sunday, March 7th.
