A Vase...or a Vaaaz, Depending on Your Pronunciation

I picked up this little vase a while back to make a button bouquet to sell at Katelyn's Benefit. Well, actually I picked up several because they were cheap ($1 at Target!) and they kept getting dinged up in the bag on the way home or I'd drop them. Have I mentioned that I'm a bit of a clutz? Anyway, after making 3 trips to purchase vases, I ended up having a few to spare, but I didn't want to keep them green. So, I decided to paint it. But after I tried painting it white, it didn't look all that great. So, I decided to mix it up a bit.

And since I had a handful of purple and pink button flowers already made up with nothing to put them in, I think I was just drawn to those colors.

It came together nicely.

It's just kind of funky and fun.

I like it.

PS-Pretty please disregard the garbage bag in the background of these photos. I was using it to paint on and forgot to move it. What an eyesore...

Honeycomb Candy

I stumbled upon this recipe for honeycomb candy the other day and was anxious to try it, as honey is one of the hub's favorites. It took only a handful of ingredients, a few minutes time and voila! Give it a go if you're looking for a quick & satisfying adventure in the kitchen. The hub loves it!

PS-Don't make the same mistake that I did and think that you can use wax paper instead of greasing your pan. You can't get away with it...

GLEE giveaway!

I...am...so...excited!

My sisters and I were lucky enough to score tickets to a taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show this past Saturday, which featured the entire cast of GLEE! I don't know if I've mentioned my undying love for Glee here before, but I'm going to go ahead and do it now. As a former music geek in high school (& college), I just can't get enough! At the taping, Melissa got a wave & a smile from Finn and Jess definitely got a high five from Mr. Schu. I got nothing...except a copy of Vol.1 of the first season, which I already own. So...I'm giving it away to one of you! For the most part, I try to stick to homemade goodies on here, but I thought this might be a fun giveaway. To enter, simply leave your name, a way to contact you and your favorite thing about Glee (whether it's a fav. character, episode, song or one-liner).

Sneak Peek

A friend asked me to make some decorations for her daughter's b-day party a while back and I finally got around to starting them last night. As you might be able to tell, she really loves pink. :)

I decoupaged this composite wood letter M (for Maddy) from the craft store, which turned out pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself. It can be either hung on the wall or stood upright, which could be a nice touch for a gift or cake table.

The last time I saw this little sweetie pie, she shyly asked me to make her a pink button bouquet. So, I told her that I'd make one for her b-day. About 5 minutes later, she came up to me and said, "Can you please hurry with my flowers?" And since I'm such a sucker for a cute kiddo, the button bouquet might end up being an early present.

Puppy toys!

We sure do love our pups!

But, they go through toys like nobody's business. Whether it's chewing or ripping or just losing... toys are usually gone pretty soon after they get them, which is a pretty big deterrent when it comes to actually purchasing them. So, when fleece went on sale for 50% off last week, I scooped some up in a hurry!

I simply cut one-inch strips of fabric and after braiding three pieces together, I tied several knots throughout the rope. It makes for a pretty good tug-of-war toy for Peanut & Wrigley.

So good that they couldn't wait for me to finish making them.

(I made one for my sisters' dogs, too.)
