New Post...Kind Of

I bet ya'll thought that I'd forgotten about this lil' blog here.

No, I haven't forgotten.
I've just been busy.
Verrrry busy.

BUT,
I'm hoping to be back soon.
Realllly soon!

Just as soon as I get my crafty goodies unpacked from our recent move...

In the meantime,
what's been your favorite thing about summer so far?

Mine has been the sunshine. :)
We've been having a lot of it lately and it just makes me want to pull out a picnic blanket and take a nap in the sun.
Ahhh, summer.
How I love thee.

Travel Bingo

A friend of mine is packing up her 3 kiddos and moving from Illinois to Texas in a few days and I thought it might be nice to come up with a game for them to play on the long ride to their new home. I've seen lots and lots of versions of travel bingo. They're all generally the same, but it's often hard to find a game that kids of all ages will enjoy. But, that's the beauty of making things yourself. You can change things to suit you/your kids (or your friend's kids, in my case).

For Becca, age 7

For Bradley, age 15

For James, age 4

I know that the images are kind of blurry, but they're not in real life. As you can see, the degree of difficulty varies by age. Plus, I like the personalization at the top. I think kids, especially the youngsters, like to see their names on things. I got most of my images from Clker.com. I created the bingo sheets in Word and saved them as PDFs to easily e-mail & to have on hand for future copies. Just pick up some small stickers (small so that they can still see the image on the card sticking out so that they can verify their space...if your family is competitive) and you've got a great road trip game that kids of all ages will (hopefully) enjoy! I don't have kids of my own yet, but I've gotta think that the prep time would be worth the quiet time in the car. :)

Friday Finds

Just a little list of things that have caught my eye on Etsy this week...
I'm on a bit of an owl kick, so consider yourself warned.

I'm really loving the look of this framed antique book page. And there are tons of other neat prints in that shop, too!

This is just so darn cute!

And I'm swooning big time over these fun prints.

How sweet is this lil' owl family?!

Have a hoot of a weekend, friends!

Something New

A friend of mine got married last weekend and since she's appreciative of handmade goodies, I decided to make her a wedding gift. I don't know if you've noticed or not, but I'm a pretty big fan of silhouettes in general. There's something classic and simple that I just love about them. So, I decided to make a silhouette of her and her new hubby.

I just used Photoshop to make the silhouettes and added their names & wedding date at the bottom for keepsake's sake.

Throw in a nice frame for good measure and you've got yourself a wedding gift! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and I hope the bride is, too.
